Two of our recent residences, Beverly and Park Lane, illustrate just how diverse each home’s story can be. One is rooted in Palladian-style architecture, the other bursts with bold color and layered personality.

Let’s explore our favorite aspects of these two outstanding homes.
Dramatic, Sunlit Staircases
Beverly is an architectural masterpiece. It delivers the essence of a 16th-century Italian villa, but with a few completely unexpected elements. Designed by architect C.A. Nelson, this home turns traditional architecture into something dramatic.
One of our favorite elements is the central staircase. Rather than placing the central staircase in the entry, Nelson made the stairs axial to a dramatic two-story rotunda. The rotunda allows daylight to filter softly through the interiors. Visitors then pass through the archways to find concealed doors within the paneling revealing discreet but abundant storage.
“Everything we do is dictated by logic. We even applied formulas like the Fibonacci spiral and golden section to confirm the classical proportions of the front elevation.” – C.A. Nelson
A French Transitional Bursting With Color
Where Beverly is quiet, Park Lane delights in expression.
Once called ”A Preston Hollow French Transitional That Packs a Color Punch” by writer Karen Eubank, this residence brings both architectural precision and a strong sense of whimsy.
You’ll find direct nods to traditional French architecture, from the slate roof to the groin-vaulted hallway and beamed ceilings.

But that’s where the harkening back to tradition just about ends. In the entry, black and white marble flooring laid in a classic checkerboard pattern sets a dramatic tone. In the dining room, lacquered walls painted in Farrow & Ball’s Peignoir shimmer under a rock crystal and brass chandelier from Nick Brock Antiques.
Almost every visitor’s favorite spot is inevitably the family room. Custom-colored panels by Iksel depict a recreation of a fresco originally painted for Livia, the wife of Emperor Augustus. The combination of art, archways, and ample seating creates a space where conversation grows freely.
