First, we’ll schedule a meeting to talk about your project. We’ll discuss your budget in relation to your vision, consider possible options and explain how payment with us works. As a second-generation builder, we pride ourselves on offering a unique & personal experience to each and every one of our clients. This consultation will be about understanding your needs & ideas for your home, answering your questions, and ultimately determining if we’re the right fit for each other.
We will talk schedule, your role in the project and what you can expect from us. We will be unfailingly honest — telling you what will be fun — and what will not. We will leave you with a complete guidance kit full of useful information to help you understand not only who we are but also how projects like yours work.
This consultation will take roughly 60-90 minutes of your time, depending on the complexity of your project. You’ll have an opportunity to share any pictures of styles & finishes you love, as well as styles you want to stay away from. We’ll leave this meeting with a clear vision of your dream home, and you’ll leave understanding exactly what building with Nixon Custom Homes is like.
CREATING YOUR PROJECT TIMELINE
Typically, building a luxury custom home takes anywhere from 12 – 27 months onsite, depending on the size and complexity of the project. Before we start your project, we have a project specialist put together a project schedule that dictates exactly what to expect and a reliable timeline for project completion. We will diligently keep you up to date on progress and issues.
There is a sizable amount of planning and organization needed in order to successfully tackle and execute your project. During this time—even if we are not working on site—we are working on ordering materials, collaborating with subcontractors and the design team to hit the ground running. No matter how carefully we plan your project together you will probably want to make some changes along the way. We are happy to accommodate any changes you want to make. Our agreement will explain how costs associated with your changes will be handled.
OUR JOBSITE STANDARDS
Our commitment to the highest standards of building is weaved throughout every step of the process, including on the jobsite.
Access to the site is restricted to employees and those authorized by Nixon Custom Homes. All drivers and visitors will be required to check in with the Nixon onsite superintendent, and are required to be in full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
We carry nothing but respect for the neighborhoods we work in. So you’ll find absolutely no activity from our team before 7:00am (8:00am Saturday) or after 7:00pm. This means no hammers, compressors, saws, radios or yelling. No work on Sundays.
At the end of the day, you’ll find all materials, debris, and garbage exactly where it should be. We keep the streets clean and ensure all trash is in the proper receptacle at the end of each workday.
WHAT DOES PROJECT CLOSING LOOK LIKE?
You’ll take a guided walkthrough the project and we’ll work together to identify any items that need attention prior to move-in. We will do a final review meeting with you to answer any operational questions regarding appliances, heating and cooling systems and any other questions. We will do a final clean up to the highest standards possible both within the project and anything on the property that we touched. Three months following project completion and move-in, we resolve any issues that have arisen since the initial punch-list walkthrough. We will repeat this same process again eleven months after construction is completed, but prior to the standard one year manufacturer warranty expiration to proactively address any issues that popped up.
